The client was expanding into the EU and needed to support SEPA-compliant direct debit payments. Their current Stripe-only setup didn’t support this and made them lose leads in Germany, France, and Spain.
I implemented GoCardless as a new payment option for subscriptions. It was seamlessly integrated into the existing checkout. I used GoCardless’s API to handle mandates, create recurring billing plans, and update users via webhooks.
After launch, conversion rates from EU users improved by 22%, and payment failure rates dropped. The team could now scale subscriptions to new markets with confidence and no need for local banking hacks.
